Gantt controls and function

The Gantt diagram in ALITEO offers a wide range of options to customize the visual representation of your timeline to suit your needs. All view adjustment tools, analytical functions, and automation features can be found in the upper right corner under the "Options" menu.

Display and Time Scales

To effectively track project progress, you can switch between different levels of detail:

  • Days, Weeks, Months, and Years: Allow you to transition smoothly from an operational daily plan to a long-term strategic outlook.

  • Fit to Window: This function automatically adjusts the scale so that the entire project timeline fits on your screen without the need for scrolling.

Working with Time Buffers and Logic

In the options section, you can influence how tasks behave in the diagram and how the system handles their time dependencies:

  • Free Movement: Allows for manual manipulation of tasks without strictly maintaining automatic dependencies.

  • Use Fixed Reserves: During planning, the system will account for set fixed time buffers between individual tasks.

  • Version Snapshots: This feature allows you to save "snapshots" of the current Gantt state. You can return to these versions in the future to compare them with the project's current progress.

Analytical and Advanced Tools

For more demanding projects, ALITEO offers tools to help with logical schedule control and early risk identification.

  • Critical Path: When activated, the application highlights the sequence of tasks that directly affect the completion date of the entire project. Any delay on this path results in a shift of the project's end date.

  • Slack: Displays the available free time for tasks that are not on the critical path. It allows you to see how much a task can be delayed without jeopardizing the overall schedule.

  • Conflicts: If the application detects logical errors in planning (e.g., overlapping dependencies), it alerts you with a prominent red button showing the number of conflicts in the top bar.

Automation and Optimization

  • Optimize Gantt: This action automatically reduces unnecessary buffers between tasks and aligns them as closely as possible, thereby streamlining the overall project duration.
